Under this scheme, workers will receive financial assistance for their children’s education and for various health-related issues. However, not only the applicant but also other members of the applicant’s family will get the benefits of this Samajik Suraksha Yojana. Benefits
1) One-time financial assistance of ₹60,000 for medical expenses. 2) ₹10,000 financial assistance in case of accidental death. 3) ₹2 lakh compensation if the applicant dies due to a workplace accident. 4) ₹2 lakh assistance if eyesight or limbs are lost due to an accident.
This scheme is extremely important for the lower-middle-class and economically weaker sections across West Bengal. The main objective is to ensure financial security and assistance for common people. Through the Samajik Suraksha Yojana (SSY), workers receive financial help for their children’s education and also get an annual medical assistance of ₹60,000 for treatment. Not only the applicant but their family members are also eligible for benefits.
Benefits under Samajik Suraksha Yojana 2024
The beneficiaries covered under this scheme will receive the following benefits:
Education Benefits
Financial assistance is given for the education of up to two children of the beneficiary:
Class 11: ₹4,000
Class 12: ₹5,000
ITI: ₹6,000
Undergraduate (General): ₹6,000
Postgraduate: ₹10,000
Polytechnic: ₹10,000
Medical studies: ₹30,000
Health Benefits
If any family member of the beneficiary falls ill, ₹20,000 will be provided under the West Bengal Health Scheme.
If any operation is required, up to ₹60,000 will be given as financial support.
Death & Accident Benefits
In case any family member dies suddenly, ₹10,000 is provided.
If the worker dies due to an accident at the workplace, ₹2,00,000 compensation is given.
If an accident leads to loss of eyesight or loss of limbs, ₹2,00,000 assistance is provided.
Eligibility Criteria for Samajik Suraksha Yojana
To apply, the applicant must:
Be a permanent resident of West Bengal
Be 18 to 60 years old
Be an unorganized sector worker
Have a monthly income below ₹50,000
Workers engaged in construction or transport sectors are eligible
Who Cannot Apply?
Applicants who have not lived in West Bengal for at least 10 years
Individuals below 18 or above 60 years
Government employees
Anyone with monthly income above ₹65,000
Provident Fund Benefits under SSY
The scheme includes a Provident Fund facility:
Each beneficiary must deposit ₹25 per month
The government will contribute ₹30 per month to the PF account
At the age of 60, the worker can withdraw the total amount with interest
In the event of the worker’s death, the family can withdraw the accumulated amount
