What is the Krishak Bandhu Scheme?

Under the inspiration of Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Government of West Bengal has launched several welfare schemes across the state. Keeping in mind the problems faced by the poor farming community, the Chief Minister introduced the Krishak Bandhu Scheme for their benefit.
Since 1st January 2019, this scheme has been implemented to make farming more profitable and to provide financial assistance to farmers.
In 2021, the amount of assistance under this scheme was doubled for general beneficiaries.


Benefits of the Krishak Bandhu Scheme

Farmers registered under this scheme receive the following benefits:

  • Farmers with one acre or more of cultivable land receive ₹10,000 per year as financial assistance.
  • Farmers with less than one acre of cultivable land receive ₹4,000 per year.
  • In case of the untimely death of a registered farmer between the age of 18 and 60, the family receives a compensation of ₹2,00,000.

Who can apply for the Krishak Bandhu Scheme?

  • The farmer must have the land deed (porcha) or forest patta in their own name, or, if they are a sharecropper, they must have proper land registration documents.
  • Even if the land is not in the farmer’s name, legal heirs of the actual landowner can also avail the benefits.
  • If the farmer does not have a photograph on their land documents, then the land deed, donation deed (daanpatra), and legal heir certificate issued by the local Panchayat are required.
  • The farmer can apply only from the block where their Aadhaar or Voter ID address is registered.

Who cannot apply for the Krishak Bandhu Scheme?

A candidate cannot apply if any of the following conditions are not fulfilled:

  • The farmer does not have legal documents of cultivable land.
  • The land deed is not accompanied by a legal heir certificate from the Panchayat.
  • If the cultivable land is located outside the address mentioned in the Aadhaar card.
  • The applicant does not have a regular bank account (Jan Dhan accounts are not accepted).

Documents Required to Apply for the Krishak Bandhu Scheme

Interested applicants must keep the following documents during application:

  • Land deed / porcha / cultivation documents
  • Aadhaar card (as identity proof)
  • Voter ID card (as proof of citizenship)
  • Xerox copy of the first page of the bank passbook (Jan Dhan account is not accepted)

How to Apply for the Krishak Bandhu Scheme

You can apply through both online and offline modes.


Offline Application Process

  • Visit the nearest Duare Sarkar Camp.
  • You will receive the Krishak Bandhu application form along with two additional required forms.
  • If the camp does not have these two supplementary forms, download them online, fill them up, and submit them to the camp within the specified time.

Online Application Process

  • First, visit the official Krishak Bandhu portal.
  • Fill in all necessary details and register using your email ID.
  • An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number—enter it to complete registration.
  • After successful registration, you will receive a User ID and Password.
  • Log in using these credentials and fill out the application form carefully.
  • Upload all required documents in JPEG format within the specified size limits.
  • Review the filled form and click on Final Submit.

How to Check Krishak Bandhu Scheme Application Status

If you have already registered under the Krishak Bandhu Scheme but have not yet received your benefits, follow the steps below to check your application status:

  1. Visit the official Krishak Bandhu portal and log in using your ID and password.
  2. After logging in, go to the Home option on the dashboard.
  3. Click on the Status Check section on the top left of the application page.
  4. Enter your Aadhaar number or Voter ID number to check your current application status—
    • Whether the benefit has been credited
    • Or which stage of verification your application is currently in.
