Khadya Sathi Scheme: “In the land of hunger the world becomes prose, The full-moon looks like a scorched bread” — Through these two lines, Sukanta Bhattacharya wanted to express a harsh truth. Hidden within these lines is the cruel reality of the world. A hungry person cannot see beauty in anything. When a person lives in peace — that is, when their basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter are fulfilled — only then do they begin to appreciate the finer things in life.

Under the special initiative and inspiration of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, the Khadya Sathi Scheme was launched. The Hon’ble Chief Minister has made arrangements so that people can eat two proper meals a day. Food is the first essential requirement for human survival.
